Sometimes, doing a screen share while playing a video can be taxing on the computer. Here are two ideas to resolve this:
1. First play the video in full before your class starts.
Play the video in full before you start the zoom (or any video meeting platform) so that the whole thing loads. Pause it before the very end. Then when it’s zoom time, move the cursor to the very beginning of the video.
2. Do not use screen share and let students watch on their own.
Don’t screen share during the video at all. Since all students have access to the video on their end, you can introduce the video, make sure all kids are on the right link, then have them watch it on their own. You can say that you’d like everyone to mute themselves for 8 minutes (or a smaller chunk of time) while everyone watches the video and come back to the zoom to do the class discussion.
